Abstrak

Penelitian ini mengkaji peran ritual Buka-Tutup Bondang di Desa Sei Silau, Sumatera Utara, sebagai manifestasi spiritualitas lokal yang mendasari praktik pertanian berkelanjutan dan ketahanan komunitas terhadap perubahan iklim. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan tokoh adat, petani, dan pemuka spiritual, observasi partisipatif, serta analisis dokumen terkait. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengeksplorasi makna spiritual dan simbolisme dalam ritual tersebut, (2) mengkaji pengaruhnya terhadap praktik pertanian berkelanjutan dan pengelolaan lahan, serta (3) menilai bagaimana ritual ini mendukung strategi adaptasi dan mitigasi komunitas dalam menghadapi variabilitas iklim. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa ritual ini memperkuat ikatan spiritual antara manusia dan alam, mendorong pengelolaan lingkungan yang bertanggung jawab, serta memperkuat kohesi sosial. Ritual ini juga mempromosikan metode bertani ramah lingkungan, termasuk praktik organik dan konservasi lahan suci, yang meningkatkan ketahanan pangan dan keseimbangan ekosistem. Selain itu, ritual ini berfungsi sebagai strategi adaptasi penting yang memungkinkan aksi kolektif dan pengelolaan sumber daya secara terkoordinasi untuk mengurangi risiko perubahan iklim seperti banjir, kekeringan, dan serangan hama. Studi ini menegaskan pentingnya mengintegrasikan tradisi budaya asli ke dalam kebijakan lingkungan untuk meningkatkan keberlanjutan ekologi dan kesejahteraan komunitas di pedesaan Indonesia.
